Map tile services

We render map tiles from the OpenStreetMap data with various styles. The Style descriptions and URLs are documented here.

Elevation Data

Some of our map layers use elevation data for hill shading and contour lines. The sources are:

Thank you to Geofabrik for assembling the hill shading and contour lines and sharing them with us.

OpenStreetMap Carto with some customizations

This style follows the OpenStreetMap Carto style which is featured prominently on the openstreetmap.org front page. It is adapted to render for example the Mobility car sharing stations or to include a hill shading and contour lines.

Swiss lv03 projection (epsg:21781)

The same OpenStreetMap Carto style with some customizations, but in lv03 projection. Due to compatibility reasons, the extent of the layer is the same in in lv03 coordinates as it usually is for web Mercator, even though many projection libraries fail to do work for the whole planet. Using this layer, you can use lv03 coordinates and pretend they are web Mercator coordinates.

Swiss lv95 projection (epsg:2056)

The same OpenStreetMap Carto style with some customizations, but in lv95 projection. Due to compatibility reasons, the extent of the layer is the same in in lv95 coordinates as it usually is for web Mercator, even though many projection libraries fail to do work for the whole planet. Using this layer, you can use lv95 coordinates and pretend they are web Mercator coordinates.

Swiss Style from xyztobixyz

Transparent layer of contour lines

This layer does not contain any OpenStreetMap data. It can be used to add contour lines to en existing rendering, though it gives better results to render those lines below some features like roads and buildings.
